Guest Artist Rick Ingraham at Carolyn Huff Gallery

Rick Ingraham has Art Work on Display at Carolyn Huff Photography
Studio and Gallery

Rick Ingraham is one of our guest artists this month at Carolyn Huff Gallery.  When describing his style, Rick says:

I paint subjects whose stories captivate me. My motivation goes beyond rendering various forms, shadows and colors observed directly on location. The athletic pose of a dancer certainly presents an artistic challenge, but I am more intrigued by the challenge of conveying the mind and spirit of the dancer. The weather-beaten boat listing in the harbor has many stories to tell.
Using a loose painting style, I leave some elements in each painting vague and undefined through lost edges, shadowy shapes, and suggested figures. This prompts viewers to draw from their own life experiences to “complete the story” from their own impressions.
I enjoy the challenge of painting many different subjects, including plein air landscapes and seascapes, still life, and people. Most recently, I am incorporating venues from international travel experiences into my paintings – both in plein air and with photo references.

Rick Ingraham's work may be seen at Carolyn Huff Photography Studio and Gallery, 1224 K St., Modesto.  Join us for the artist reception on Thursday, Aug. 16, from 5-9 pm.  The gallery is also displaying work by Tracy artist Vince Walsh.  For more information contact carolyn@carolynhuff.org or call 209-918-6627.
