Barbara Grandon is an award winning mixed media fiber artist.
Her grandmother was the first to introduce her to quilting as a young girl. While in college, Barbara had the intention of becoming a home economics teacher, but she soon took a U-turn to study nursing. After earning a Masters degree, she practiced nursing for 25 years before retiring in 2015. Another U-turn occurred immediately upon retirement when she joined the local guild - Country Crossroads Quilters. She joined the week before she retired, in order to “stay busy” during retirement. At her first meeting, she was introduced to Art Quilts which includes painting fabric and creating quilts as artwork for the wall. Barbara says “Life has not been the same since.”
Barbara Grandon will have textile art on display at Carolyn Huff Gallery, 1224 K St. from August 1-31. The gallery is open Tuesday - Friday.
